So my house is currently heated by "Big Bertha" an industrial oil fired central heating boiler. She consumes large quantities of oil. Whilst we're only there for a few weeks in winter I can cope but we do plan on moving out nearly fulltime ....

We are in the Correzze so wood is plentiful. I am thinking of importing a Canadian pallet burner ....

The good thing about them is they just need a level piece of concrete and can be plumbed into the existing pipework. I also like the idea of being able to heat a swimming pool from the same source - house in winter ... pool in spring late summer.

Anyone using heat pumps or other lower cost heating ???

Thanks

Chris

I looked into heatpump system, got 2 quotes both around 45000+ euros! + 10kw supply needed, We would need to live there 50 years to see a return on the investment!!
