OK - how many of us are there in lily pad land and whereabouts?
I'm based near to Versailles and would delight in organising a summer BBQ for PHers in France who could be bothered to dodge the radar traps to make it over to my place. Failing that, we could organise a rendezvous in an area with nice driving roads for a hoon? Any other ideas, any interest, or should I go back to sleep?

I spend a lot of time in Franche Comte. Fantastic driving on deserted D roads. Fellow PHers MikeN and CRB1 vouch for the fact that they are some of most satisfying roads anywhere.
At this time of year snow stops (serious) play time, whilst I blasted around on chains in the MX-5 in previous years, the Z4 (with minimal ground clearance) would be hopeless - could be exciting on the icy twisties though - roll on springtime and then the fun starts...
Au revoir!

Do soething around Le Mans and you could have several thousand .
Will be at Le Mans myself this year so will keep an eye out for PH stickers. My BBQ might have a problem with several thousands...
Hold on so you are withdrawing your invite
Typical Froggy
Cheeky monkey!
Typical Kraut
No - will persevere with this, though for the moment it sounds like I'm one of the rare ones silly enough to be close to Paris rather than out in the far flung wilds. Tele-working is not yet an option in my business unfortunately.

Hi,
Just spotted this section. I've been living in Rouen for the last 5 years, although we're planning a move back to the UK sometime after baby 2 is born around late June. Nel, whenever you're planning your barbie I'd love to drop in, say hi. If it's still on, of course.
Alternatively, do feel free to pop in for a drink if you're heading west at any point. We're in a flat so no barbie's but I might even manage to rustle up some bacon, wensleydale and other choice contraband...If you time things right

Drove through Langres last Sunday on the way back from south of Pontarlier (25). A route I do several times a year. Cracking roads from Gray to Longeau (managed over 1 "unit" on the switchbacks!, exhilarating with roof down). "Discovered" new roads, by turning right in Joinville (D60) towards Ligny en Barrois - top surface, loads of sweeping bends for many miles; as with many D roads, traffic was sparse so max enjoyment was possible.
One not to be missed is the "Voie Sacree" from Bar le Duc to Verdun - a great road, but very symbolic as it was the supply line for the trenches, 90 years ago. Quite humbling and moving. Apparently trucks passed every 16 seconds, if one broke down then it was shunted into a ditch so as not to disrupt the transport of troops & supplies.

Hello all,
I'm base on the riviera - all those lovely mountain roads at my doorstep.
Anyone else around here?
Should be an invasion in early september on the megahoon trip.

Hi Sortie 10 Your mention of the Gray Longeau road brings back great memories from when I lived near Gray. Used to drive up to Toul (54) regularly and encountered a radar hidden in those woods just before Chassigny. Made their day at 158 and got myself a month off driving in the process
