Starlink internet
Discussion
Both I and my neighbour in South West France have recently installed Starlink and to say we're delighted, is an understatement !
We purchased the hardware for the same price and have control over our Internet access rather than rely on any other company with their appalling customer service.
In short, do it 😀

A mate of mine switched from a 3Mbps BT connection to Starlink - he's near Ashington/Pulborough.
It's been transformative for him - proper streaming of high res music and film etc.
I think he goes out to a simple ethernet switch and connects from there - he's also using BT Whole Home Mini Discs to distribute the signal.
He's had it a couple of years and it's been 100% reliable.
I would have the system were it not to have FTTP arrive (almost unexpectedly) just as I was considering buying in.
ETA - sorry, this is in the French thread, I didn't notice. The fact he lives near Ashington is less interesting!

Thanks both, good to hear.
A couple of questions:
- is the router good quality (decent range)
- how do you plug in additional ethernet based network devices (Amplifier, security cameras) ?
There is a plug in adapter available that gives you an ethernet port which you can then use to connect to a switch or similar.A couple of questions:

Desperate to install Starlink in our French house and start using the house more often - but cannot abide Musk....
Does the behaviour of a CEO really bother you that much? If that were the case there would be dozens of products you would find difficult to own. What about governments? There are some pretty appalling heads of state and regimes.
Or does your disapproval become diluted after a set number of years?
Fully understand the sentiments with regards to Musk. However for use in a second home it’s great. Previously used a 4g WiFi router for which we paid around £40 per month, even when we are not at the house. Signal also kept dropping out at inconvenient moments.
Starlink reception has proven to be stable, and payment can be suspended when not using it. So far, I’m pleased with having made the decision to go ahead. For reference, this is being used on the Dordogne/Charente border.
