RANT: Buying tyres in the UK
Discussion
I'm visiting the UK and have had a puncture.
I have had a very frustrating day trying to order/buy tyres online. Much cheaper than at a shop/fitters.
Two major issues, nearly all of the sites ask for a postcode to be entered and it will only accept a UK one. Then when you go to pay there it still insists on having a UK address. When payment security kicks in it rejects the payment as the UK address does not match address details on card.
The other issue on some of the sites is it insists on having the car registration, guess to ensure correct tyre choice. Of course it will not accept a french reg.
I am going to have to go in some where and pay over the odds.

OK then let’s see what we can do.
I assume you are referring to Blackcircles etc.
In the past I’ve found that if you check out the local fitters, often independents, and ask if they can match the price without involving Blackcircles , you can get a good deal.
You would bypass the credit card address scenario and pay direct
Good luck.

I will be having a new set fitted to my Aston Vanquish this week by a local tyre shop in Congleton whilst we are here.
As my car is on French plates, I got a UK reg from Autotrader for a Vanquish of the same year so I could check the prices. £988 in total.
I suppose it depends where you are in the UK, but I wouldn't just try the big outlets.
Good luck.
