Quarantine for UK visitors

They do not intend knocking on doors due to the low incidence rates in the UK, you can go out and shop for 2-hours every day and you only need a Lateral flow antigen test, not PCR, to come in.
We are returning to UK tomorrow, with all the documentation required, i honestly cannot imagine the average family on an all-inclusive to Torremolinos being able to meet the paper requirements. The first PCR to leave France was the easy part. 😀

There is a reasonable probability that France will be on the green list by the end of July, so it will then just be a PCR test to get back to the UK.
The issue is about whether we can go to France. The indications are that they will introduce multiple testing and longer quarantine for visitors from the UK. So unless they don't do this the UK green list status is largely irrelevantblueg33 said:

Move away from the tabloids you may find the truthhttps://www.lemonde.fr/international/article/2021/...
One lateral flow test to enter, 7-day quarantine during which you will not be visited and 2-hours a day to go shopping.
Quarantine light, compared to countries with poor vaccination rates, or rampant infections.

But to quote Le Monde
compelling reasons will be required for non-resident foreign nationals joining France from the United Kingdom"
Travelers must also present a negative PCR test of less than thirty-six hours (instead of seventy-two hours), or a negative PCR test of less than seventy-two hours accompanied by a negative antigen test of less than twenty-two hours. four hours.
Thats still multiple tests and quarantine.
Makes holidays highly unlikely
All depends for how long this lasts, if they can introduce a restriction quickly it can surely be lifted quickly when they’re happy with things.
All of the glass half empty folks seem to treat any tightening of restrictions as some sort of permanent effort, They’re just being cautious and rightly so.
As for the poster above who is abandoning a stay of several months over the need to test and quarantine for just 7 days, can I have some of what you’re smoking please?

Yes, I think if they do this now, they'll be able to lift it in a few weeks, in time for the summer holidays. I guess the danger is that many will cancel pre-booked holidays, but I'm not making any changes to my plans based on this announcement.
Agreed. I can change my ferry ticket up to 4 hour before departure, so I am holding fire on any changes to my bookingsSmiljan said:

If your staying there for 8 months surely a weeks quarantine is nothing ?
8 months is unlikley..How do you know his personal circumstances?
He might be resident, he might have dual nationality, his wife might be a French national.
There all sorts of reasons for staying 8 months in France each year. All this 'can't do that anymore because of Brexit' is largely nothing but what Donald would call Fake News.

I don't think you can call it fake news when except for a very specific set of circumstances (which most people can't meet) then it is exactly right. He might be resident, he might have dual nationality, his wife might be a French national.
