Lockdown in France
Discussion
Hello fellow French PHers.
To be clear, I haven't started this thread to discuss the virus itself (there is plenty of threads on here already dedicated to that!), but instead just as a shared information point should anything come up that's a problem for anyone and to share useful French based info during this time.
As such, if you haven't already seen here are the conditions / forms for leaving the house etc.

We've been on a self-enforced lockdown since Sunday due to contact with an Italian contractor who has since tested positive. We managed to get a few people home in the last few days but it looks like those of us still here might be for some time yet. From what I gather though there has been no closing of borders? Still hoping to be able to get home at the end of the month/early April (haha).

They are looking to close borders - but I haven't seen any definitive answers as to what that will mean (eg can't leave? Can't come in?).I'll post here if I see anything concrete - can't imagine they wouldn't let you leave though?
Are you driving back?

I'll get back however I can (usually fly). My concern is that I cannot leave until my oppo arrives, i.e. will they will allow non-French nationals to enter the country?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-51918596Thats the best link I can find (in English) - so probably keep an eye on that and see what the European Commission decides on. Good luck!

Yeah, a long way to go yet, and with things changing on a daily basis I'm not worrying too much about it at the moment.
Good luck and fingers crossed you don't have any issues! I'll update here if I see anything else.
Has anyone noticed the lack of contrails in the sky at the mo, Mrs RJ just commented on this as we were sat on the patio with a little glass of rosé and I have to agree with her..........Only aircraft I've heard all day was the SAMU helicopter on its normal run to Montluçon and back to Clermont.

Hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out...but will be looking out for it now!Yes very quiet here in the Charente. Just having my first beer after a bit of a trying day.
Gendarmes are about and will fine people without thier travel forms.
They are also checking bar/tabacs in our area to make sure it's only tobacco they are selling.
Plenty of jobs to do at home for the next two weeks.
I have applied to defer my cotisations this time round and also have a one month mortgage holiday from the bank with option for longer.

Though I'm sure everyone that needs it already has it, this is a good link in English

Day 4 of 14 here in the Sarthe on our "working' holiday, luckily managed to get 4 bags of chaux from a plumbers merchant yesterday after the Brico closed so have managed to carry on rendering.
Enough food for a week so we're okay until the madness at the shops cools down.
Thanks for the English link, at least I know I can get out on the MTB and not keep looking over my shoulder!
Did consider returning home yesterday but I'm in no mad rush to return to work in UK just yet....
OH is in a vulnerable category so we feel she is safer here with less chance of popping out to see someone whilst back home

You can, but you still need the form completed and signed to say you're exercising. The English link above explains how to fill it in if you don't speak French - but just take a photo / tell me what you need to know and I'll translate it if needed.
Very quiet here in Chassignolles 36400, our little road normally gets about 7 or 8 cars a day passing but today we've had 2 and one of them was the postie! Attempted to get to our local Brico this morning but was shut until further notice so am being told that there plenty of little jobs to do around the house, luckily the dog needs a few walks to help me escape.
We've no plans on heading back to the UK yet, think we are better off in the countryside with no near neighbours and see what the next few weeks bring.
Thanks for the updates too, will keep popping in to see what news you have.
Stay safe.
