Letters From DG de Finances Publiques?
Discussion
I've received a couple of letters regarding my taxes fonc and hab. In fact, the taxe d'hab letter is about my tv license, rather the the taxe itself. Did I read that they're abolishing the taxe d'hab?
Essentially, the letters say that payment will be taken from my accout 10 days after the bill date, bla bla bla.
Except that I've been paying both these taxes for fourteen years, in exactly the same manner.
Does anyone have any idea why I've received the letters?

Taxe d'habitation isn't being abolished.
It applies to all non residents and the threshold has now changed to:
Couples without children with an income of less than €48,000.
Couples with a child or children who earn less than €54,000.
Single individuals with an income of less than €30,000
As for the payment details, then I find the tax office to be akin to voodoo. Never knowing what is coming and going and when. HOwever much better than social security, which is a black art

I understood that it's been phasing out for residents since 2018It applies to all non residents and the threshold has now changed to:

Yes, I had a letter from impots in 2018 saying that due to the nice M Macron I wouldn't have to pay it anymore. Not sure how or why we were singled out but friends and neighbours were still having to pay! As far as I could tell our incomes were slightly over the threshold as well but not by much, always honest in income declarations too.

The above are the thresholds, however the formula is more complicated than that. There are other considerations as well. This helps https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/simulateur-de-l...
