S of France pool temperature in September
Discussion
Also posted in the holiday section ....
I’ve booked a villa in St Cezaire (about 20km inland from Cannes) for the first two weeks in September.
The outdoor pool can be heated for an extra €120 per week but I’m thinking that temps in early September should make it unnecessary. Keen to hear any experienced comments as it’s so long since I last did a villa at that time of year.
Thanks
Gary

Hello Gary, temperature of pool as you probably appreciate will be affected by quite a few factors such as exposure to wind and in particular whether it's of an overflow type.
When I had a pool at my house NW of Toulouse I had a bubble roll cover that I put on most nights other than July and August. Typically I would be at about 22-24° in September. Would expect a degree or two warmer in the area you're looking at.
Cheers

If the pool has a good bubble cover, you might just be OK.
What are they using to heat the pool? I have a heat pump and cover in the Loire Valley and I reckon to heat a 15m pool to 25degC is less than £30 per week, in October
We also had an uncovered / unheated pool near Marbella and the swimming season was surprisingly short - June to mid Sept. the problem is that if you are sunbathing and your body is hot, then getting in the pool can be a mighty shock.

Thanks Philip,
The pool has a telescopic cover (like a little hanger) but not sure what effect that has on keeping temperatures up.
Would you get it heated?
I have just re-read this and now understand what you will have. The pool has a telescopic cover (like a little hanger) but not sure what effect that has on keeping temperatures up.

If the weather is sunny, I am certain you will get a good swimming temperature, provided that you use the cover overnight and when you are absent.
