Exporting a car from France
Discussion
Hi,
I am buying a second hand car in France (I am currently living in Spain where it will be registered). There is one aspect of buying a car in France for export to another EU country that I would like to double check. From the information I have been able to gather (e.g. from EU parlament pages) there is no such things as export plates. Instead you can drive the car out of the country on its current plates once the sale as been completed even it by then has been de-registered by its previous owner. Obviously this assumes all required documentation is completed in the sale and that you have obtained temporary insurance. Is it correct that you can drive the car out of the country with its current plates and / or is there another process to follow?
Many thanks in advance,
Chris
