Local gendarmerie has had all leave cancelled for the first two weeks of July to man the speed traps which will be there to catch the errant drivers in the new 80 km/h limits. I think they were out practicing today as there was a speed trap on a local back road that I haven't see them on for at least the last 6 years, it's a road that I traverse regularly and a car coming the other way warned me but I was only doing about 70 anyway along that stretch so wasn't an issue but was a bit of a surprise to see them there.

Thanks for the heads up. Will the signage be changed in time?

What signs?
The 90 limit is a blanket limit that applies unless signed otherwise
130 on motorway 110 on duel carriageway etc. Same as 50 in villages indicated by the village signs.
Consequently there are no signs to change.
Where you see a 90 it’s probably reducing a 130 or 110.

The new law comes into effect on the 1st July whereby previously the two lane 90 km/h roads have their speed limits reduced to 80 km/h, this is nationwide. Some of the local signs around us have already been changed from 90 to 80 albeit covered up until July 1st.

True the signs are only in places where the limit is reducing from 110 which previously said 90 now say 80.
