Hi Phers

Your assistance with unravelling the regs around creating a business in France would be appreciated.
NOT TAX matters.
More around the needs of the bureaucrats for Chambre d'hote and guided walks.

My intention is to set up a small residence which hosts holiday makers and on certain weeks conducts walking tours among the vineyards.

I'm interested in the specifics of France, so not the need for insurance etc which would be the same most places.

Can you assist me please?

A complicated question to answer with such little info.
Who owns the residence, what kind of residence is it,who guides the walks, who runs the holidays, are the guided walks included in the holiday.
Business and tax go hand in hand as the way you set up the business will affect your tax and running costs.

Cheers,
Here a few more answers.

The residence will be owned by me.
Something like a 5 bedroom house.
It'll be lived in by me.
The walks will be guided by me.
The tours will only include guests staying at the residence.

I would look at all options as a chambre d'hote may not be the best way to classify your business.
Where abouts are you thinking of setting up your venture?

You could be walking into a minefield with this.

Will you live permanently in France? Do you already have other income streams?

I suggest you speak with someone like Vincent Grey at Club 95. He is in the thick of doing French tax returns for clients at this time and so might be able to offer you more time in June.

I can assure you that there is not just one answer, it all depends. And your social charges on profits could vary between 17.2% to 45.45%..

Social charges can be on turnover, not just profit.

It might be worth speaking to a guy in Chamonix called Andy Eggleton (EWP Accountants?) as he gives advice to a lot of catered chalet operators in the Alps, and it doesn't sound as if what you're thinking of is much different.
