Hello,

I'm leaving a rented property in the next couple of months. I need to dip the tank but I suspect we are low on heating oil and will probably need some more before we leave. Deliveries before have been a minimum of 500L. Now, I'm not intending to leave the next people with a thimble-full of oil, but neither do I want to wave goodbye to a few hundred euros of unused fuel.

Are there companies that do smaller deliveries, or can anyone suggest a way of getting smaller quantities of heating oil just to see me through the next six weeks or so?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Well, yes, and I do have one. Seeing as how the oil provides the hot water as well as the heating I was looking for a slightly more elegant solution.

Might be worth asking the landlord if they are OK buying an approximate amount of oil below 500l at slightly less than cost. Failing that, options are buy 500, sell to a mate with a hosepipe and a bowser, or buy from the garage in little containers.

Have you checked the prices?
We have gas and the delivery charge for smaller quantities is higher to discourage small amounts.

Local garage selling red diesel?
One of ours sells it at about 1.03€ a litre so it could be worth getting 50l or so in jerrycans to pop in your tank.
