Completing on our place in Charroux,Vienne on 18th May :-)

Looking to move over in September this year

One of the quirks of our house in we have an en suite in a bedroom but there is no room for it it is in an alcove.....

We want to have it removed completely and where it was made good so we can have wardrobes there.

Only the two of us so one loo is fine.

I also want to turn bedroom to into a dressing room for SWMBO so need a partition built or ideas on how to make the most of the room.

Anyone know of a reliable builder who they can recommend to pop over and give us a quote ?

Well, I suppose if you were in the UK, you would get quotes from a few local builders and then get references.

Things are really no different in France. It just ain't easy. Asking your neighbours would be a good place to start.

Ask the neighbours, visit the local Marie office.

Be wary of English "builders"

Get references.

We found an excellent french carpenter who built our double glazed windows and doors for a very competitive price.

Good Luck!

You have at least ten or more builders in your village as well as many others from the surrounding area.

The Marie should sort you out with one ok. Take your time and maybe meet a few locals to get a feel who they think is good and reliable.

If you go with a Brit, make sure they've got a Siret. That is, make sure they are an 'official' business, and not working on the black. Cash in hand may be cheaper, but if anything goes wrong, you'll never see him again.
