This is possible in the UK if most parts are more than 25 years old ; engine, gearbox, diff
Does anyone know if the same procedure would exist with the FFVE?
Obviously as a kit car it opens up a can of worms , but I did hear a few years ago that replicas were being considered.

The alternative would be to get the car registered in the UK first, but this would involve going back and forward with the car on a trailer. ........ But it's not impossible.

Download the FFVE form, fill out what you can and take it, along with the photos and the car, round to the FFVE scrutineer in Saintes Terry. He's a nice old boy and very helpful. I will PM you his contact details once i've dug them out.

Thanks Russ! But if I got a FFVE cert what would the prefecture think of no V5.

As long as you have a receipt or proof of purchase of some kind, it shouldn't present a problem. Best to ask at the prefecture how you stand though.

Bottled! I came to the conclusion that It was all too. Uch for a possible track car only. :-(

Back to the search......

Probably the wisest move, if it's under 30 years old you don't even get into the starting blocks anyway.

Absent a V5 a DVLA Certificate of Permanent Export is the only option for an exported vehicle or where the owner does not have a bona fide UK address.

Not only does it have to be over 30 years old, but that does NOT mean the donor car. - You would need to prove that the kit was available 30 years ago.

I recently tried to register a C-Type replica, but although the donor vehicle was 1968. the kit was not available until the 90's

However, the FFVE regional guys are extremely helpful and will do what they can to help.

I found them keen to do whatever they can and definitely 'on your side'.

What are you trying to register?

I did bottle out but the car was an ex modsports Ginetta G4 with no ID /V5 markings of any kind!
All I would have is a receipt!

That may have taken some explaining, but if you think about doing something similar in the future, I can put you in touch with a FFVE 'regional manager' who currently runs the following cars which he registered here: Westfield 7, Marlin, Gentry, JC Midge and a Malvern!

As I said earlier, definitely on our side!!

Cheers

Glynn
