Deciding where you might want to move in France is very difficult and depends on so many factors - and remember that the house market is pretty slow so that once you have made up your mind it may take a long time to move should you change it! This article might help. Don't expect to make any money with buying and selling (as you might do in the UK). Toulouse is a great area and rates highly as one of the happiest places to live - look here.
Fly into Bergerac with Ryan Air or Fly Be,then a 2 hour drive to Toulouse. For me Bordeaux knocks Toulouse into a cocked hat as the better city.
We used to go to Toulouse alot for shopping etc.and now my kids go to school in Bordeaux,then again living near Bergerac doesn't have many down sides.
