We have signed a lease on a flat in Nice, and need to provide an Attestation d'Assurance.

Our lease starts on the 5th January, but we won't actually stay in the flat until February, and won't have a French bank account until we get there in February.

Does anyone know where I can get the necessary insurance either online, or through an English speaking provider that we can deal with by email?

Try leaton@agence.generali.fr or telephone 0033297408020.
They are agents for Generali and all the staff are perfectly bi lingual. The boss is a lady called Lena Eaton and she is very charming and helpful and speaks emabarrasingly good English. Try to speak to her in person if you can, but all the staff are fine to deal with if she is busy. If you don't speak the lingo well, they are your best bet.

Also you can try Britline from Credit Agricole. They can give you a comparative quote from their insurance arm Pacifca. I find them reasonably competetive and pay out quickly if you have to claim. They have some Brits as well as Engligh speaking staff.
