White Goods Problem....
Discussion
Woke up this morning to a flooded kitchen. The water filter housing of our (not very old) American Maytag Zig-Zag door fridge/freezer (Model ZG2626GEBK) has decided to pi** out water, obviously the shut-off valve no longer works. We bought the fridge in new the UK and had it shipped to France with our household goods in 2007 and have found out that there is no service centre for Maytag in France now (there was in 2007 though). I can't find out if it's just the water filter head unit that needs replacing or whether there is a shut-off valve elsewhere. I can get the water filter head unit from an independent parts supplier in the UK but if it's the part that resides in the bottom of the fridge (where one of the two water pipes goes) that's only available in the US it would appear. Maytag in the US just refer me to the UK and Maytag in the UK only suggest calling a service engineer - not really possible as the fridge is in France, also the above parts are not listed on the UK parts list for this fridge so I assume not available from Maytag themselves!!
Upshot of all this is I need to get a competent white goods service person to fit part(s) if I can get them as it's not obvious how to remove and replace, anybody know of one within reasonable travelling distance of the Haute-Vienne?

There's a biggish independent white goods service and spares place in Limoges, right by the road near that awkward junction where the ring road crosses the Vienne by the newest bridge and where you can turn right towards Aixe-sur-Vienne. I think it's at the bottom of the Boulevard Bel Air.
Frankly I wouldn't hold out much hope that French service will solve your problem.

Yup, that's the one. Turn left and negotiate the dreadful junction before going up the hill towards Leader Price and you'll see the shop on your left. Don't know where to park though!
There's a big firm around here called Brossette that does plumbing bits and pieces as well as some white goods, if that helps. They are in Limoges and also St Junien.
Bon chance...
