BBC satellite services

From what I have read in Spain today even the Costa Blanca is OK so nothing should have changed in France.
That is a relief. I pay my license fee in the UK, but geographical restrictions don't make sense any more in a digital world. You should be able to pay for a service and have a reasonable expectation that you can see the content wherever you are.

Astra 2n Switch
This might help.
"FRANCE
Large scale losses from the southernmost quarter of the country. Typically dishes have been 80-90cm in the past. In some areas, a re-tune and a better LNB will get the signals back, but with little rain margin. A 120cm. may be needed. Near the border with Catalunya, the signal is worse. There is a report of a well-tuned 90 cm retaining the BBC between Cannes and Nice, but many reports of BBC loss in the region, roughly in a line drawn eastwards and westwards north of Toulouse."

The owner has just installed this bit of kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/IPTV-Set-Top-Box-MAG-250-B...
It does not use a VPN and does not work with SKY but if you use FreeSat and can't just re-tune, then this may be be OK for you. Picture quality is good.

Since the ITV channels have migrated to 2F the power levels have been raised considerably (or they have repositioned the spot beam).
Initially here (40km SE of Toulouse) the BBC channels dropped from 80+% Q to zero. They have now come back to around 45% Q which gives a watchable picture. 80cm dish and 0,1dB LNB.
There is some initial info on typical needed dish sizes: http://www.a516digital.com/2014/02/special-what-ch...
Dont rush to change anything yet in case they readjust the satellite again.

Thanks for the info , saves me clearing Tesco out of 3 quid DVDs , I don't mind in the summer when you can sit outside with friends but it's a bit boring without TV when your by yourself and it's raining , and all the work you have to do is external .
I can probably squeeze a couple of odds and ends in the back of the pick up if anyone anywhere near sarlat wants anything bringing down start of march , not looking for profit or anything , all I ask is you pick it up
