Any one know what the situation is if a windscreen needs to be replaced outside of France. My XF is insured with Pacifica and there is a card in the pack to call the French equivalent of Autoglass if the windscreen is damaged. There is no information as to what to do if the windscreen was to go whilst visiting the UK. I'm asking 'cos a stone hit the windscreen on the A10 going north from Bordeaux, I couldn't immediately see the damage but on closer inspection there is a 5c size chip right at the top edge of the screen (in the black bit that runs across the top of the screen and down the sides)with 4 spider cracks travelling along the screen from the chip, this screen isn't going to be cheap as it heated and has some sort of sun filter coating used on export models. As I'm going to be in the UK I would rather get the Jag dealer there to replace it rather than the muppets that tried to replace my Kangoo screen here in France (also insured with Pacifica).

PM this guy. Not far from you and very good.

If you'd still prefer to have it done here, let me know where you're heading and I'll see what i can do for you (I look after a few Shaguar dealerships in Berks/Bucks/London/Herts).

Hi.

This is mebiggrin

You're probably in my area, I am in Aubeterre 16390, about an hour and a half from Bordeaux.

Pacifica (provided by Credit Agricole) are good as gold so long as you inform them of the claim, I've done a few jobs for them and they pay really quickly. Insurance in France isn't like it is in the UK, they abide by EU competition law and whilst they can recommend a repairer they can't force you to use any particular one so long as they bill a prescribed rate.

If I can be of any assistance let me know, I can pm you my phone number if you need. I cover a surprisingly large area.

In my insurance pack there was a small plasticised patch to put on stone chips. I did put that on and the cracks haven't spread at all so I haven't progressed it, the damage is in an area that cannot be seen from inside the car and not in range of the wipers. To tell the truth I'd forgotten about it!! I will keep an eye on it though, just in case.

The patches are to help prevent moisture/water ingress.
