Planning a drive down to the area for a week at end of june, after Le Mans this year and wondering if anyone has recommendations/ good experiences of an apartment or hotel there that has secure parking (underground/ garage/ etc) without major steep access?

The whole of Monaco is secure parking due to the number of CCTV cameras present. AFAiK, all the hotels have valet parking with covered car parks anyway. Never had any parking problems at the Columbus if you need a specific recommendation.

This. More cameras than you can shake a stick at and I believe the highest ratio of police to inhabitants of any "country". Many police are plain clothed btw.

Thanks for your info Guys!...think we'll be steering over to Nice for accomodation - slightly cheaper and better beach, with a few apartments with garages!

If you are not set on staying in Monaco then Menton is worth considering.

Thanks Fulham! After extensive research.....we've routed out a room at a small hotel with underground parking in Nice central. I wanted to be able to leave the car safely parked for 5 days as it's got removeable windows and this place's location makes it easy to get around without a car wink

It only costs an euro a trip (well, it was last February) on the air-conditioned, very comfortable bus to go to Monaco from Nice, or indeed as far as the Italian border at the far end of Menton. Only nutters drive through Monaco - you can get off the bus in Casino Square or at St Devote for the Port.

Or even try the train from Nice Central - avoids all the jams on the roads and Villefranche has to have one of the most stunning seaside railway stations in the World.

A train trip over the Italian border to the giant Friday morning market on the sea front in Ventimille (Vintimiglia) is worth a look. It's the world's capital of fake Burberry, among other famous brands. You'll never believe what's real again when you see all the Monaco-registered motors parked around there every week. Of course they are only there for the pasta...

Don't - without doubt one of the biggest st-holes in Italy if not all of Europe

Are you being serious? Ventimiglia is a hole - we nip over the border to shop sometimes but I wouldn't recommend it as a day-out destination for a tourist!

I only recommended the Friday morning market. There's some decent food to be had along the sea-front in my experience.
