I thought there was talk earlier in the year of introducing CT's for bikes.

Did it actually happen does anyone know?

Thanks

Hasn't happened, not even for mopeds *

As I understand it, the motorbike test was expected to be implemented in line with the much-discussed EU Roadworthiness Package proposal, intended to harmonise vehicle testing across member states.

The French Assemblée Nationale and Senate have since called for the proposal to be rejected, ostensibly on grounds of increased cost to the public during economic crisis.

It's also been rejected by the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland. If nine EU governments reject the proposal, the Commission has to rewrite it, delaying things considerably.

That said, I suspect bike testing is probably one of the less controversial parts of the proposal and it would be naïve to say it'll never be introduced in France...but it doesn't look like it'll happen this year, and even if the EU's proposal scrapes through I can't see it being implemented before 2014.

* Scooters/mopeds under 50cc were supposed to need a test as of January 1st 2012, mostly to combat derestriction. The law is written and on the books, but no-one dared sign it off in an election year. It's still on standby, and will happen before full motorbike tests, I reckon.

Thanks for that, it is very useful.

I fear that bikes that have been re-registered from the UK may get caught by the headlights on this - not the direction or height as most adjust pretty well, but the profile often is lift to the left.

If it is not until 2014 I won't worry for now.

Cheers
