bonjour mes amis!

hoping the french collective can help me out on a query regarding licences/towing limits for france.

in september our race team needs to transport our car from the netherlands to barcelona. tow vehicle was going to be a mercedes vito but now we're concerned that it won't have enough grunt once fully laden and we might fall foul of gross weight and trailer load rules.

could any of you help regarding what we're allowed on a standard driving licence for gross weight and trailer weight, and what additional insurance we may require?

cheers.

I am not absolutely certain, but my understanding is that, wihin the EU, a vehicle that meets all legal requirements in its host country may pass through any other EU country without additional requirements.

It is part of the freedom of movement of people, goods and services etc.

As RDJ said .....

In france if its got a PTAC (gross weight laden) over 750kgs the trailer needs seperate registration and insurance, seperate reg plate etc ...

You won't need that as you're UK registered probably, so as long as the Vito can tow the weight and it's'declared on your insurance you'll be fine.
