Got back from our French road trip last week - 2,259 miles at an unbelievable 42.2mpg (ok it was in a diesel Saab convertible smile )

I just have to say how unbelievable the driving was over the 12 days or so...

- Square root of bugger all on the roads really: including the Route Napoleon!
- The Route Napoleon is a nice place to be yes
- French Cols are UNBELIEVABLE - did many: Bonnette, Galibier, Telegraphe, D'izoard - to name but a few
- Having the passtag for the tolls is a great experience and takes huge stress out of equation (and is quite good fun in a 'will or won't it go up' kind of way..the barrier that is!)
- Great places to visit - Gorges du Verdon should be a MUST on anyone's Euro trip
- Nice towns - Beaune, Castellane, Briancon, Annecy - with nice people
- Great food...'natch!
- Cheaper diesel than Blighty!

Having driven in many places around the world I have to say that this was by far and away my best experience overall.

Thanks you France bow
