la poste notification of new address
Discussion
just moved to the limousin, went to la poste to tell them of my address, and to ask for the form to fill in, so theyd know where my mail should go.
i was told no form was needed, but im in a hamlet of 5 houses, and im not receiving mail, as the local postie has no record of my name.
in my last place i filled a form and no problem.my French is limited(learning) can anyone advise me what i need to do at la poste to get my mail delivered
thanx in advance john

Do you mean you're not getting forwarded mail from a previous address in France, or you're not getting any mail at all?
If the former, you need either:
Try not to let them rip you off with the Pack: Ma Nouvelle Adresse, which is the same form bundled with some change-of-address letter templates and a calendar, for €8 extra.
If the latter, I'm not sure what's going on.
Probably a stupid question, but is your name clearly on the letterbox?
Try sending yourself a letter or two, then catch the facteur when he's looking confused on his round the next day, and point out the name on the box.*
If all else fails, email me your address through my PH profile, and I'll send you a registered letter - that ought to get through.
Hope that helps,
'punt
* To win extra village points, shake his hand and introduce yourself : "moi c'est kitcarjohn, je viens d'emménager ici, je ne parle pas bien le français mais j'essaie d'apprendre. Sympa le village !". By evening, everyone within a 5km radius will know your name (you are now known as John, l'Anglais, incidentally), and will be greatly reassured that even if you're a foreigner you appear to be a human one, not a mysterious property developer trying to steal their livelihoods. If you go to the local tavern the following Friday and offer one drink to anyone who tries to practise their English on you - they all will - you'll have friends for life who will offer an apéritif whenever they see you, invite you to barbecues, vouch for your integrity in courts of law, bring you gifts of meat and fish, recommend a bloke who can fix your plumbing, and introduce you to their unmarried sisters.
If the former, you need either:
- A formulaire de réexpédition définitive if you're planning to stay in your new place
- A formulaire de réexpédition temporaire if you're expecting to move back in a few months time
