Never trust your friends, it seems. Needed a new bathroom fitted and discussed it with someone I have known for years. 17€ per hour was quoted, very reasonable, so he started work. The second day he asked me if I could advance him some money since he was a bit short. No problem, but three days later he asked me for more. He then pointed out that it was now 20€ per hour and - wait for it - the time started when he left home and when he got home, plus I was supposed to pay for his diesel and 13€ per day for his lunch! I'd noticed that curiously he kept a bottle of Perrier in his van and went out from time to time for a drink. On checking it was more whisky than water.

We have someone else finishing off the work, as you might guess.

Not Sky, Plutôt, la Goutte or 'l'eau de vie'. En Sarthe, Local farmers always have a big swig of the stuff before they take to the road. Have to be careful overtaking them in the mornings on the way to work.

If you want some cut price building done, my father in law can do you a good price. He can do plumbing, tiling, bricklaying, plastering, welding, has contacts for roofing too. Then again a good friend of mine, English bloke 'Lotus bloke', so used to fixing things, can do equally all that you need. Lets have a chat in the Bounty sometime to discuss your needs.

To conclude. They 'the French', will always take us Brits for a ride if they can. Wouldn't you visa versa. Part of the game I suppose, 'contra les Ros Bœuf'......
