Can anyone help?
i am looking to import from the uk, a volkswagon touarag, either a 3 litre TDI or a 5 Litre V10 TDI.
When we first moved over here and I registered our cars we had to pay a co2 tax, about 300 euros for our rangey and 800 euros for my M3, any idea what it would be for either of the above?
I have tried talking with the prefecture...but they cannot give me any idea until I give them VIN numbers, registration etc, I cannot do this, as I have not bought the car yet!

thanks for that.....still bloody confusing though!
So, if I bought 2004 5 litre V10 313 bhp and 332 g/km or
2006 3 litre V6 224 bhp and 287 g/km
both diesel.... what does that calculate to, and is there now an annual charge of 160 euro`s?
Please help someone, I want to buy a new car.

I am not sure why you are having difficulty. I just run the scenario with 16cv, your fiscal power, for my department - 49 and it came up with an answer of €814 for the V6.

The rate varies depending where you live, but you only pay it once. I think you will also pay an aditional tax for an import when you fill in the form for real.

Have you tried serching for a French car?

Taxe régionale 560 €
Taxe parafiscale 0 €
Taxes CO2 248 €
Frais de gestion 4 €
Frais de port 2.5 €

Coût total légal 814.5 €
