Over the years I reckon I have been told that we are all doomed on quite a few occasions, Which load of old phooey scared you the most.

Personally I'd say the one about 20million people in the UK dying of HIV/AIDS was the one that had the biggest effect on me, and who knows perhaps it was the changes in behaviour it brought about that saved all those lives. Aids has certainly proved to be a major killer elsewhere.

So far I reckon Mad Cow has been the biggest Scare story without the full apocalypse. (some sad stories for sure, but comparable to hedge trimmers deaths)

You forgot 'SARS' - which despite dire warnings of pandemic killed about three people in Hong Kong.

Sometimes it seems like a plot to kill every farm animal in the UK. We have to destroy all our pigs and cattle every few years to please the French (who simply ignore their own diseases) then we import more dodgy meat from South America.

Theres no such thing as a "cold war nuclear attack". Never was.

I dont think we've heard the last of Bird Flu, or, scarily, global warming.

Biggest threat to the world right now though is global food production meltdown caused by the finacial mess.

I think the one where a guy got caught spraying graffiti in portsmouth on friday night, he also had a firework and the police had conferences saying how they foiled a G20 attack.

No seriously, they foiled a G20 attack.

I say you're wrong. Commodity prices are falling not rising.
Biggest threat is MMGW of course. WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE.

I'm old enough to remember the stories in the mid seventies that a mini ice age was due, and that we should be preparing for Glaciers to cover the land from Scotland to Derby !
