Who ever plans all these G8, G20 meetings etc, it really does give the terroists a perfect opportunity to cause massive damage.

Instead of simply doing a big video conference session, which would save a LOT of taxpayer's money in travelling costs, also the silly amount of cost spent on security, policing etc. etc.
Another idea would be to have these meetings on a remote island or a remote part of some random country. (Where security would not be a problem)

But the big brains in the G20 have decided that London is the perfect place, right in the UK's centre of population, whereby if some terror group had access to a DIRTY BOMB, not only could it wipe out the G20 leaders, but take out a sizable population too.

Normally these events are in harder to reach places, ie Davos or Gleneagles.

You're right, this is utter stupidy, but I suspect it's got a whiff of Brown showing off...

If they did it by videoconferencing, they wouldn't be able to have a piss up/junket paid for by the mug taxpayers.

It's out at the ExCel Centre, FFS. You can't get more remote or difficult to access than that...

So would you consider this as remote as the Faroe Island for example?

I'm guessng that with the ExCel Centre only being about 4 miles from the CENTRE OF LONDON then the word 'remote' should not crop up!

A 'dirty bomb' would barely be noticed. So much drivel talked about this kind of 'evil terrorist device'. "london will be a wasteland for years".... what rubbish.

If their going to do it, they'll need a proper nuke, not some small 'toxic fart' that will just inconveniance a few Eastend layabouts.

Doubt it

http://www.flyshetland.com/
Note: Atlantic Airways are currently not operating the Faroe - Shetland - London route due to the uncertain economic climate. However, they may re-commence these routes again in the future.
