Any advice on who to use to send a guitar by courier? Speed not really an issue, cost is more important. A home collection would be handy too.

Also, what would you expect it to cost. In the north east if that makes a difference.

Cheers...

Just be aware that some couriers restrict the insurance they provide to about £150 irrespective of what you pay for if you are shipping a guitar because of the number of snapped neck claims they were getting. Check the fine print before choosing your courier!

I've sent two recently. Both had hardcases. One weighed a ton(Yamaha sg1000)and one didn't (Ibanez 7vwh),Both cost a fraction under £16 using Parcelforce!Insured up to £500 or something, which obviously wasn't enough for either guitar but they both arrived safely!

Did you check the terms? I think you'll find you were only covered up to £150 with Parcelforce.

Edited to add I've just found the relevant bit.

Just make sure you use a hard-case. My mate sold a Gibson SG on eBay and it snapped in half in transit. Not happy!

Even cheaper if you UPS it thru www.interparcel.com should be less than a tenner
