Autograph valuation
Discussion
Hellos to you all,
Would any of you know how and where I (on behalf of me gran) might be able to ascertain the value of two particular sets of autographs.
The first is all four Beatles, signed in person (not their roadies!) on the same piece of paper. My Nan worked in the police station at Heathrow airport and the Beatles holed up there before leaving to go somewhere. She made them all a cup of tea and, in return, they signed a bit of paper for her.
Also, she has Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin's autographs. I think this is on the same bit of paper. I don't know how she came about these though - but I imagine in a similar situation to the above.
So - if anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.
Cheers,
Phil.

The Beatles AND the first moon-landing crew on the same sheet of paper?
ETA: Googling 'autograph valuation' brings up these guys http://www.autographauctions.co.uk/
Look like they know what they're talking about.

I have the Apollo 11 Crew - signed photographs individually and undedicated. One one photo they are worth anywhere from about 5k up. On paper, probably in the region of 1.5k if absolutely validated with provenance.Would any of you know how and where I (on behalf of me gran) might be able to ascertain the value of two particular sets of autographs.

The Beatles are probably in the order of 2k ish.
Just for interest, Neil Armstrong's signature is the most valuable of any living person. An undedicated signed Nasa photo of him with proper authenticity can be worth anywhere between 3-5k.

Cheers Alex. That's crazy money but hey, if people are prepared to pay it...So - how would I (we) be best set to see about selling them? My Nan has no desire to keep them so she is of the opinion that her children/grandchildren/great grandchildren are better served having some money. And, no, that's not my motivation for helping her!!

Thanks guys - I've contacted them re: valuation. I'll wait to hear from them.I wondered whether anyone has any personal experience of selling these sorts of things and has any advice on what to avoid/watch out for/consider.
I'm a bit of a collector myself. On Wednesday each week, Christies have an open door 'free evaluation' of all kinds of things and their autograph experts will help authenticate, date and value your items.
Alternatively, you could just email both Christies and Sotheby's with scans and they'll offer help - initially for free. Try it.
I'd recommend going with a company / body who have some credibility in the trade as there are an awful lot of scammers and fake sellers out there.
I've bought and sold on RRauction.com in the past.
Good luck and don't spend all of Grans takings when you cash in.....

Already mentioned - I have Cloughie's autograph, also a leather football with the 1980s Notts Forest players, and a Damon Hill too. Plus a Schuey, and the World Cup winning ruggerbuggers, and...but they're keepers.
Now wondering what the Notts lot and Damon is worth. Provenance is good: my father was a Notts Forest scout and a FA Class 1 referee with the FA long service award - as to Damon, well I'm a PHer, snatural innit. Apologies for the slight thread diversion

Great. Sounds interesting and I'm sure Nan would like a journey up to chat about the provenance! Thanks all!
If you do decide to keep them, then I think what would help is getting your nan to sign letters explaining how each set of autographs came about. The autographs could be authenticated without that, but to a collector it would add value. It would be a shame if (God forbid!) she passed away without doing that.
