Slightly tongue in cheek question, but it seems P&P and most other forums these days are dominated by threads about people who are totally and utterly fed up with this government.

In various other countries it seems there have been lots of riots, mobs, protests, you name it they've done it short of sizing up lamp posts.

So, is that sort of thing simply "not British, we'd never do that" and really it's just the rantings of a few pissed off bloggers and forum dwellers, or does anyone thing we could see such a thing happen here - are we even remotely close yet?

Apparently it's going to kick off at the G20 meeting and be a summer of fun and games.

I think it's highly unlikely that you would get mass rioting in the UK. That is not to say that outbreaks of disorder for industrial or political ends won't occur. Whilst people complain about our politicians and practically everything else, Britain is still a pretty good place to live. With honest elections, more or less. Fair Justice, within reason and a long history of working out our domestic problems without resorting to "mob rule". Should I climb into my flame-proof suit about now?

I think there will be plenty of opportunistic people out looting if they get the chance during the G20 shenanigans.

Probably targets will be Costa, Maccy D's and the other big global companies.

There are plenty of keyboard warriors letting of steam I doubt they will go out rioting as we all know there is too much to loose. It would take a monumental action by the incumbant Gov to piss everybody off i.e. cancelling the next General Election for some petty reason.

How on earth can people loot a coffee shop or McDonalds? will they be the people seen running away with armfulls of straws, napkins, coffee stiry things and sugar?

Ok, they will smash those up and help themselves to whatever they like in various electronics stores and the like.

I remember the poll tax and the riots in early 80's.

It doesn't take much once the tip has been toppled.

Over here there were riots all the time, once people get angry enough, it doesnt take much for it to pour out onto the streets.

A few well placed snipers on surrounding buildings should put a stop to that

Actually there is some truth in the three meals theory.

In terms of the G20 protesters, I would hazard a guess that if there is any 'trouble' it will be caused by the usual group of barely functioning cretins who won't have a clue about the nature of the protest.

There are people who go along to any protest just to have a scrap with the police and wreck a few buildings (and nick stuff). They neither know nor car what the protest was about...

I just want to know how it's possible to organise an anarchist protest.

There are a lot of people who blame capatalist for the worlds woes and some are not the usual crusties. It would be easy to see how with unemployment rising, bankers bonus payments, bent politicians how some who have nothing can drum up support from others.

Hopefully the police will stop it in its tracks, |I somehow suspect this will not get out of hand this time
