Thought I'd post this here, so that I can obtain as much information on how to proceed in this situation.
This is what I've posted on a couple of forums trying to see a bit of 'consumer advice'.

I ordered a camera (Sanyo Xacti HD1010) from Simplyelectronics.co.uk on 27 Nov, 2008, 10:38am at the cost of £382.95.
The camera was stated as being in stock but ended up with a late on delivery, even though I paid extra for next day delivery, the unit finally arrived on: 05/12/2008.
I then contacted them via email sometime around 16/12/2008 (I think a few days before that as I remember it was only a few days after having the thing) to inform them that the SD memory card reader within the camera was faulty (an integral part as there is no memory inside the unit).

After further emails back and fourth explaining what was wrong, I finally had a returns number, and around the 22nd I posted the camera back to SimplyElectronics.
Between the 2nd and 6th of March(!) I received the camera...only to find it still has exactly the same problem.
Their 'engineer' didn't fully check the camera was working at all, and I have a feeling they just posted it back without doing anything to it.

I ended up taking the camera to Jacobs camera shop to test out their memory cards, just in case my ones were somehow magically faulty. They weren't.
I then decided to make a video (with another camera) showing that my memory cards are fine and work on other cameras, and that the HD1010 is still faulty.

They've been slow on responding to emails but they do communicate, I'm just fed up, and want a bloody camera for my work.

How can I get this problem resolved with them as I desperately need the camera.

It just keeps you on hold, forever.

Yeah phone is better, but remember you also have the manufacturers warranty if you just want to get it fixed.

Not much help Im afraid. But I ordered a christmas present for my other half a month before christmas. simplyelectronics said it was in stock. It came on the 10th January. Will never use them again simply because they keep you on hold for ages when trying to speak to someone and then you get cut off. I sent them a few abrupt e-mails and got an answer only when they said they were delivering it.

I think they do sort their problems out but you have to wait for a while.

Cheers for that, although it was purchased through google-checkout.
