Thing being the ad is not aimed at people who hang about here, is it?

Many moons ago I worked in a Peugeot dealership, they were forever tarting up the base models, ie: 106XN, became 106 Graduate, style, style 2 etc etc. They sold like hotcakes, we could not get enough of them.

Purely a marketing exercise, but worked a treat, whether the cars were crap or not, so have things really changed that much?

That is the current marketing method, if you can get an advert that people will remember (even for being annoying), countless drones will buy what they are told to, regardless of what it is.
