Every year my missus and I tell each other not to buy anything for our respective birthdays. Every year we ignore each other and buy each other something nice. This year, at the weekend, I couldn't find anything so I decided to honour our agreement. Well not quite. I bought her a pair of bicycle clips for the princely sum of £1.50. Bizarrely she was very happy with said gift!

So can anyone lower the bar?

I don't think you've thought this one through.....either, as we speak, you are in casualty having said cycle-clips removed from a part of your anatomy that was never designed to be stretched to the dimension of the average cycle-clip...or you are about to be.

Plenty of times I've spent absolutely nothing on gifts.

It's easy and saves a fortune on wrapping paper too. wink

Oh yes

Many moons ago I presented myself to my then gf and declared to her 'Happy Birthday!'.
She didn't ask so I offered 'I've got something for you...'
'What? Where is it?' she asked excitedly.
'Here' I said, dropped my bags and there was a pretty ribbon tied around my knob.

She loved it.

Sum cost? Zilch, I found the ribbon in one of her drawers.

What is it with women and ribbon? Something to tie on the suitcases I guess!

There is a school of thought which says it was stock 3/4 inch gloss ribbon, and even if it was a triple-windsor knot, it still managed to hide your dignity.
