With the market looking to have bottomed out, which five companies would you invest your £1000 in?

I wish I knew.

The best advice I could give is wait and see what I invest in, then short it. You'll do very well.

I think the best way to make a stock market investment is thus:

1) Get a list of possible companys you might be interested in
2) Ask around, keep an eye on the news and financial sections
3) See how they've performed in the recent past

4) Write names of said companys onto pieces of paper
5) Put pieces into hat
6) Withdraw a name
7) Invest.

I no longer have access to bloomberg.... If you can find someone who does, then you can look through the fundamentals...
