And you advocate that?? Vandalising the car and house of someone you don't like - through media reporting, rather even than personal experience?

Hmmm. Vigilantes, just what we need. Can anyone explain what law Goodwin has broken? Or is it that the general public don't understand contracts and the media don't see a story in explaining it?

If you want to get angry about it, get angry at the people who offered him that golden departure, not at the guy who accepted it.

Don't they realise that as he will be insured with rbs that this will only cost the bank more money

Who does this sort of thing?

Brainless spivs carried away by the media frenzy I guess, similar to the 'Two Minutes Hate' in 1984.

People are pi$$ed of with him because he presided over the biggest loss in UK corporate history. The Pension was just the icing on the cake that got up most peoples noses.

If he had been a decent bloke he should have given part of it back even though it was "aggreed" by the other RBS Bananas.

Just because it is legal doesn't mean it's right ! So don't think Sir Fred is totally innocent just because his mates handed the dosh and contarct to him on a plate.

And that gives you the right to vandalise his property? I don't agree with him receiving the pension but I'm not convinced all those saying it's immoral and he should give it back would do so themselves in the same situation. I'm not sure I would, it would be a difficult decision.

So what about all the decent hardworking people who have paid into pensions all their lives and are now going to retire in utter poverty because of someones bad bad management?

Not much of an inspiration or a person who deserves any respect is he our beloved goodwin?

Maybe if the government had any balls and had dealt with all this in a more ruthless manner the public and those who have lost greatly would be a bit calmer feeling justice has been done.

I'm not condoning criminal damage but I understand a lot of peoples anger and frustration.

If goodwin has any sense he will be out of the uk somewhere very discreet indeed.

What a mess.

Excellent. Hopefully someone can get to him with a pick-axe handle. Similar stories refer to AIG scum having to take extra security measures due to the increasing hatred felt by decent citizens.

But it does seem to be having an effect. Worldwide, there are reports of bank criminals either voluntairily(under duress) or being forced to pay back the money stolen from the tax payer.

It would make me extremely happy to see one of these greed pigs get physically hurt.

I hope he takes his money and retires somewhere a bit better than the UK. Good luck to him, he played the system and got away with it.

If he deserves bricks through his window so does every MP that claims all those allowances for houses they never live in then bleat "I'm obeying the rules so it's legal" when questioned

A bit disappointed, I've been reading PH for a while and never thought it would be condoning physical violence and vandalism of people and their property based on hate being stirred up by gutter press media.

Isn't this the exact argument that these MP's use for their second home allowance? "It's within the rules..."

As you say, just because it's legal doesn't make it morally correct.

What could the government have done (legally)? Very public sacking of whoever agreed to Goodwin's severance terms would be just about it.

If the government wanted to avoid this they shouldn't have encouraged everyone (bankers, house-buyers, themselves) to borrow more and more. Goodwin's payoff is a symptom not the cause. I don't respect the man, but then again, it's a little two-faced of our beloved government to want to blame the man at the top of the organisation when it's a bank, but not when it's a government...

To be fair the broadsheets have been less than complimentary too. If there is a poster boy for the economic downturn it is Goodwin, rightly or wrongly.

I remember reading only a year ago a profile of Goodwin in the Sunday Times, which lavished praise on his and RBS's relentless rise to be one of the world's biggest banks. Funny how things change...

Da comrade, in the communist utopia of tomorrow no longer shall the bourgeoisie capitolist fat cats feed on the opium of their profits.
