right a qualifier first

I think this place is fab - knowledge banter and everything inbetween. I even bought a T shirt and some stickers for my cars

I've owned lots of "speedy" cars - even most of the boring ones have been vaguely "speedy" models.

I've just asked for a sticker - oblong one - but without the speed matters "motto"

is it just me that thinks this isn't quite right to put on your car.....forget the pc brigade and everything else it just doesn't feel right BUT I do want to promote the site

I know I could just not have a sticker or get the round ones....but they don't advertise the site.

I was 39 1/4 on monday if this explains it?

MODS - posted in here as its not website feedback or about the shop its just about opinion!

Why would you want to put a sticker on your car specifically to advertise PH? It's not like it's run by some bloke out of his bedroom. A corporate entity owns the place now.

If it was to appeal to fellow PHers then surely one of the round stickers would do the trick?

Does it not mean 'matters pertaining to speed'? Rather than meaning 'Going Fast is Important'.

Subtle difference, but important none the less.

Exactly. It's a clever play on words and can be taken either way by whoever reads it.

Maybe the OP should be posting on Caravan Monthly instead whistle

I think it depends how you read the phrase - take you pick.

Speed matters - matters relating to speed

Speed matters - take speed into account when your out for a drive, otherwise you could end up driving too fast for the conditions

Speed matters - speed is the main reason for having a quick car

Speed matters - very fast carpeting service

Agreed, but it can be misinterpreted by Joe Public so easily. For "us" it works...For everyone I'd assume it's some sort of road "hooligan" slogan.

Smileys = thumbup though.

Best with the smiley face then as it's a bit more exclusive by the virtue only petrolheads will know what it stands for. That & the people they tell and the tts who hate us so much they'd vandalise your car.

I'm with you on that; I'm the most un-PC person you could meet and safety nazis and the like of BRAKE need their teeth punching in: I despise these little fascist sts!

However imaging getting stopped for doing something "a bit naughty" by Plod - something that you would normally get let off for. He sees the sticker, doesn't "get" what it means and bang - that's 3 points please, Mister Orb.

I see 'ring stickers on so many cars these days, many that are probably more familiar with lapping the bristol ring road than any other sort of ring....

You beat me to it by about 2hrs. Glad I'm not alone in thinking that.
To answer the OP . . . have you ever been on the right side of the armco on a circuit? If the answer's "no", shame on you.
If the answer's "yes", what the fk's wrong with a decal that says "speed matters"? There's fk all wrong with advertising that fact. Does it say "high speed matters through villages"? No. Does it say "high speed matters past bunny wunnies, horses and small children". No.
It says "speed matters". If you're into cars or bikes, in the proper sense, that'll resonate. It doesn't condone irresponsible behaviour, why would anyone think it should? Lentil eating civil servants possibly may have issue, but fk me! Are you seriously worried about their opinion of you??
I've raced for pretty much my whole short life and I get TOTALLY fking hacked off with limp wristed, liberal, risk averse tossers, telling me what's good for all of us.
If you agree with them, then sorry, you're a media victim. Pure and simple. Probably too old as well. Probably spineless as you're unable to speak your mind without fear of "offending" someone or worrying what they think of you.
Go and get a Prius. Only don't stick a PH sticker on it as you'll then look a total cock.
Sorry everyone. Rant over wink
