A real - time record of the sights and sounds of the 9/11 attacks, containing emergency radio recordings, video and recorded voicemails. Disturbing scenes. Part of a week of specials.

Channel History at 9 PM for anyone that is interested.

As someone who is originally from NYC and had friends and family who worked, and thankfully escaped, in and around the towers, along with friends in the NYPD, to this day I cannot bring myself to watch any of that stuff. Too many bad memories. paperbag

No need for the paper bag. I can understand why you wouldn't want to watch it.

If this is anything like the book of the same title, then it was actually a very good book. I have already said that 24 will have to be recorded on Saturday this week as I am setting the HD to record this one.

Anyone else think that terrible day REALLY doesn't seem like 8 years ago?

i too have a somewhat morbid fascination with the events of that day.

Have several good books and DVD's on the subject. I have also visited the site on a couple of occasions when in NYC. A quiet reflective walk around The little church that stood is guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye.

I think it will be the 'Kennedy' moment of my life, I remember where I was and what I was doing as the terrible events unfolded. To watch it on TV made it look like a movie. To visit the site and see everything brings the harsh reality home.

Another one whole never forget it. Mainly because I'd passed my Instrument rating the day before, and had been out on the lash the previous night anticipating the new job coming my way in a shiny jet....only to be phoned by a mate the next day and told to turn the T.V. on.

When I go to my God, one of the ticks in the '+' book will I hope be the fact that I watched the drama that day, and the thousands I'd spent getting a license and obviously no job to go to with the inevitable Airline bloodbath, didn't bother me half as much as the pain I felt watching ordinary people, people with families who needed them and loved them, who'd went out to make a living that morning like any other, jump to their deaths because it was better than burning alive.

Not ashamed to day I had tears in my eyes watching the human tradegy unfold on the screen. Just an awful day for the world frown

Thanks for the reminder, i'll be watching.

Still got a deep interest in this despite seeing all the previous programmes that have been on.

Very well articulated. Hold that thought and then entertain the notions of those that say "but we deserved it!"; "We brought it on ourselves!". mad

yep seems like yesterday- can remember it as clearly as if it were yesterday.

never seen a city centre so quiet- everyone was in Dixons or currys - i saw the whole thing play out on hundreds of very large widescreen flat tellies frown Seeing it on hundreds of screens didn't make it any harder than if i had seen it on a tiny screen- either way it was a truly terrible day.

I'll never forget my girlf turning to me and asking whether we would be going to war and whether i might get called up!

I'd managed to avoid the news sites and so on all day, ended up being picked up from work and was told "Have you heard that the world trade centre has fallen down?" - treating it like a joke (cos who would actually believe such a thing could happen) I remember getting home and seeing it all on the news...

I was in utter shock and disbelief. Still to this day I wish the media hadn't shown the pictures of the people jumping out of the towers, absolute sheer condensed futility... It scarred me and is something I'll never forget frown

Just watching this program now... speechless really frown

Amazing so far, you really cant appreciate the scale of it and what it must have been like to have been so close by that day. A lot of footage i have never seen before as well.
