I'm honestly, utterly aghast at the 'Jade Goody has died' thread. I'm actually amazed it went on for so long before getting locked.

Its very typical of the way PH is going nowadays though - full of completely insensitive, racist, bigoted idiots.

I think i'll be sticking to GG from now on, at least the car threads can't go the way of a lot of the threads in TP&P.

Is anyone else feeling the same way? If it weren't for the usefulness of the site, and the genuine car interest therein, i'd have been out of here long ago.

And please, no pathetic comments like 'Well why don't you then' etc etc.

See you. Don't let it hit you on the way out.

sorry if you wanted something else. I think that thread reflected quite well the feelings of the non chav of the populus

On this occasion, I think the chav section of the populace displayed more class and humanity.

I'm a big boy thanks, i'm perfectly able to make my own decisions.

And i'm not just talking about that thread, the 'f**kwittedness' is evident on hundreds of threads...

I don't want this to turn into the Jade Goody thread Mk2, i'm talking about a broader topic here.

I certainly can empathise with that. Thing is, I've yet to find another place where I find this many genuinely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, witty or otherwise valuable people together, many of which I am/would be proud of to call 'friend'.
As in any 'public' social setting, unfortunately this means putting up with the hordes of bigoted, selfish, unfunny idiots.

On the other hand I've yet to identify an unpleasant person at real-life PH meets - which alone makes being part of this 'community' worth my while thumbup .

I agree completely. I cant believe people could be so disgusting. I enjoy the P&P most of the time but some of the members remarks made me feel sick. I complained twice about it and couldn't believe how long it continued. So my answer to the OP is yes i feel the same way.

The Jade Goody thread was a real indication of the type of new member we have on here.

I think Haymarket are now doing some great stuff to get rid of the worst offenders and clean up the P and P but it appears there is still a way to go.

Hopefully seeing threads locked and bans handed out will encourage the worst of these tw@ts to go elsewhere.

You don't have to read or comment on threads you don't like. There are plenty of decent threads about the P&P is regulated enough, its what it is a place for banter and banter can be nasty at times, it can also be bloody good fun.

Every so often I have to switch the P&P off and ignore it for a while.

But I end up going back because the more general discussions, debates and and humour threads can be excellent.

The new P&P rules (bans from just the P&P and the sign-up wait) DO appear to be working but you get the odd lapse.

As to comments on PH about Ms Goody? She always raised strong reactions throughout the media and on discussion boards. Not just on PH. To me it is unsurprising that her demise continues to do so.

Perhaps it is now only a sub-section of society that has been indoctrinated with the value that one should not speak ill of the dead. It is entirely logical, sadly, despite the fact that I do not agree with it, that if one spoke ill of Ms Goody prior to her passing one will, no doubt, continue to do so afterwards.

I feel like an old dinosaur.

Exactly, If I see a Jage Goodie, BNP, Daily Mail thread then I just ignore it.

It's sad when anyone dies, especially those leaving young children behind. However, the sea-change in opinion was strange as several posters who, in previous threads had called her all manner of things, reversed their opinions. The pre-illness Jade bashing was actually more akin to the PH I've known over the past 5 years.

Anyway, several things have saddened me about PH. The thread about the biker who was shot, the thread about the cyclists who were killed on their Sunday ride and a few others I don't remember off hand. The Jade thread was actually just a continuation of sentiment which had been expressed by many on here previously, and applauded at the time.

The beauty of the P&P is (in my opinion) the stunningly diverse opinions on pretty much everything. It would be a real shame to lose that.

Can I ask did you use the 'report abuse' function?

If you are not happy with the content of any thread then surely the best thing is to use the above function, that way the mods attention gets drawn to it quickly, I would expect that the more people who use it, the more likely action will be taken.

I haven't seen the Jade Goody thread but I thought it was totally wrong for the BBC to give it Prime Slot in the evening news. Sorry but in the global/national scheme of things it's not news, but a personal tragedy regrettably acted out in public.

Remember the P and P is only a small part of PistonHeads. There are some great forums on here that still retain the old style.

I bet absolutely shedloads of chavs get binned each day from in here. It must be hard work for those that do the banning to keep up at times.

In general I actually think this place is on the up, certainly from last year anyway.

Yup!

Pretty much anyone can sign up!

It's not just this forum, either. Most forums have the same problems.

Some people do overstep the mark, it's not particularly funny. You can spot the 'characters' a mile off, then just ignore there individual posts from then on!

As has been said, you can pretty much tell how a thread is going to pan out from the title. If it's a subject you have no interest in, then just ignore it!

Never bothered reading every single thread, suspect there are some bits that might never read, jade goody dying is not one of them, never thought much of her when she was alive and think the same now that she is dead

OP needs to be a bit more selective in reading perhaps ?

I'll second that smile
