Ok, I finally agree, the UK is a bit screwed...

Right...
Usually I view threads like this with mild trepidation but Friday night's experience prompts a post.
Cambridge is usually a nice (ish) place for night out with friends. All you have to do to avoid chav scum, fights and general walking detritus is leave The Regal (pub) and Ballare (club) off your itinerary. Which we all did.
But in the post binge drinking, dancing like a loon food rush, there's usually only one choice - Gardies. But I decided (I must have been wasted) to try Maccie D's instead, while my mate went and grabbed himself a Greek Burger (Gardie's best IMHO).
So, in I stumble amid the short-skirted, tight t-shirted human werckage to greeted by signs saying: NO SEATING, EAT OUTSIDE (or words to that effect). Fair enough, it's late and I imagne the staff want to get out as soon as they can.
As I reached the counter I was met by two chavs facing off because apparently: 'You were chahin (sic) up my gilfrind (also sic)'. This is where I was shocked - in waded two massive bouncers.
It's not the fact that the food is expensive (I swear they put the prices up at night - danger money perhaps?) and largely poisonous, but the fact that they KNEW there was likely to be trouble so had to employ the Incredible Hulk to sort it out.
So there was I confused, tired, £7 down and slightly dizzy wondering what had happened to the UK, but the five second stride to Gardies showed the other side of things. There were no bouncers, no fighting, no tight t-shirts and people who knew the word 'think' wasn't pronounced with an 'f'. They wore suits (not the norm for Gardies, must have been a formal on or something) and had friendly banter with the other patrons. It was literally world away from the hole five seconds down the road.
And my point? I finally agree with those of you who say we're going to the dogs. I never thought I'd think that way, but damn. We may just be screwed.

FFS have you been living in a bubble up to now?
Well, not really - I'd just hoped that basic human decency still existed. And I usually go to Gardies sans bouncers. I'd never agreed with all the people saying that the country is going to the dogs, but now I've been forced to agree.
It's a shame, is all.

BUT, there are vast swathes of the country which are just chav town.... Scum, selfish, dim-witted, prone to violence for no reason, and often carrying a blade as well. Oh, and they have no respect for anything or anyone, including the police.
