If it's a standard 3.5mm socket in the car, then use a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm plug to plug lead.

Go from the headphone socket of the iPod to the aux input of the car.

Job done.

I have the same set up and my cable cost me about a quid from Tesco - it's a value one as well hehe

Have a quick rummage around your "odds and sods" drawer, I seem to have amassed a fair few of these leads over the years, I think you get them with a lot of computers (or possibly speaker systems).

It all depends on the car and the stereo and what connectors it actually has.

it will but the volume will be low, it always is! Annoyingly!

There is a lead about that goes from the docking port to a 3.5mm jack and that plays at full volume and there was another similar that charged the iphone too, but not sure who made them.

Check the bay and google!

nuts Turn the volume up on the iPod /iPhone then...

The last few cars I have had with a 3.5mm socket have all advised that the volume is set to maximum on the source player.

Yes, strangely enough, I have done that (iredface) but it is still significantly lower that the other inputs and turning up the head unit (ford fitted sony unit) it distorts easily.

But if you use the docking port, its crystal clear and as loud as the main unit.

Weird

There's usually an Aux gain in the menus, has been on most of the head units I've had with Aux inputs

This is all I needed - http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/351...

Make sure the headunit has an aux socket/plug though. Works perfectly, very good quality!
