Google Street Walk Release - Car owners problem??
Discussion
I think this is a really cool piece of technology (linky below for less techy people):
StreetWalk
BUT... all the car reg numbers are still in view. Pick a posh place like Kensington, Ascot etc where people aren't likely to have moved... free shopping list of expensive cars...
I also think only 80% of reg plates have been blurred too... free speeding for the patient who can find a car the same as theirs?

If you can't already work out that walking through Kensington will net you some expensive cars, you are mentally retarded.
These cars are in a public place, publicly visible. The fact that they've been photographed and put on a computer screen doesn't make them any more stealable really. Given that the photos on street view were taken months ago, the location of cars is not something you could really rely on either.
The only case I've heard of where you could really say Google maps has helped thieves has been the case of the guy nicking lead from roofs - apparently he planned out his expeditions using google, which gives you a view that you can't get from the street.
Still, let's not get paranoid. Next it'll be some 'think of the children' call, and demands that google removes all images of human beings from the web.

I do agree... just meaning that its prob nicer to do from he comfort of an internet cafe / home ( for the brave thief) to look for a few cars people have "on order".These cars are in a public place, publicly visible. I am not much into the govt data paranoia, just wish they would keep quiet about it and spend the money on useless ID cards for schools and hospitals etc that could do withthe £9bn!
