I knew she'd had a skiing accident, but didn't realise it was that serious!

The Irony of Liam Neeson playing a bereaved father is not lost on this story. How very sad.

Indeed - very sad. I suspect this will re-ignite the debate about beginners (at the very least) being required to wear helmets when skiing. I know some European countries have already made them compulsory for children.

Very sad. I'd been following this story and seems she gradually went downhill (No pun intended).

Condolences.

What happened?

Head injury of some kind or did it trigger something else? Seems a bit unlikely as a simple fall on a beginner slope as per BBC webpage.

Wear a helmet people!

Always sad when a "fun" activity like this ends in tragedy frown

Apparently she seemed ok after the fall but the instructor told her to go and see a doctor.

I heard about the accident a few days ago. Very sad indeed.
She had a crash on a beginner slope and her head injury was alot worse than it appeared, it seems.
I'd been hoping that she wasn't as bad as they said (typical 'celeb' media), but it was all true.

RIP.

It might have helped but I get the feeling it may not have done much for her. By all accounts she fell on a very easy slope & was travelling pretty slowly - and then got up & laughed it off.

From what's been said, 999/1000 people would have walked away from it.

I would therefore guess that there was some kind of "weakness" in her head that caused a heamorrage or similar.

Very, very sad indeed but I get the feeling the fact that she was skiing was kind of incidental - it could have happened in any number of other circumstances.

Ski helmets are compulsory for kids in Italy, Slovenia and Sweden I think. Always wear one myself these days & actually I find it more comfortable than a hat which is usually either too hot or too cold.

I am taking my 10 year old son for the first time soon & he will be wearing a lid whether he likes it or not!

Its a very sad story.

Without wanting to bring politics into this, surely she had the option to wear a helmet if she wished to do so.

She was in the remake of The Parent Trap.

If that helps.
