Next week I'm representing myself in a court case.

The CSA sent me a letter last year to say I owed them money in respect of my now middle aged son's maintenance payments. I told them that during the period they are claiming this money should have been paid, he had actually left school and was working fulltime for one of my firms' subcontractors. They will not accept this, and the matter is now going to a 3rd (evidential) court hearing at which 3 witnesses (including middle aged son who finds it hugely amusing) will confirm what I cannot get the CSA to accept.

Whilst this is a good excuse for me + 3 to take a morning off work and enjoy a good lunch together, I'm sure that the legal costs to date must be edging into 6 figures.

I think the actual individuals who are insisting on running up this bill should be responsible for paying it. These aren't really the right days to be wasting what little's left.

Ah, when the Govt are involved, they fight, for precisely the reason you have stated - they aren't footing the legal bill.............

Do make sure to make an application for costs etc as well including the travel time (I hope you are self employed as well).
