192 was a monopoly aparently opening the the market was to give us more choice and ensure we're not ripped off on price... hmm

Is that just the call to 118 itself, or also them putting you through?

I've always just got them to text me the number, as I knew the call charges would be at 118 rates to the destination number otherwise.

Call 118 811 - same call centre as 118 118 but much cheaper wink

ETA - 40p flat rate for the call.

Plus if you're using a land line call 0800 118 3733 for a free service smile

Yeah, it's a 60p connection charge followed by some daft p/min rate isn't it?
I've never used it anywhere except work... where it was easier (read lazier! wink) for me to call when I needed a customer's number. smile

I don't understand with mobile broadband available from free to unlimited £5 a month why these rip off clowns are in business.

Just get an iphone, the maps app is great just search for the company you want and it will show it on the map with an address, directions to it and relevant phone numbers, emails or web addresses =]
