I have a 40th Birthday party to attend in a private club in Soho and I would like to cut a dash, so to speak.

So I would like a sharp suit that would look good at the do and will also be apt for the odd wedding and christening etc.

I only have one suit at the mo' which I have had for probably 8 years and although nice and Italian, it does make me look too "grown up".

I would imagine that the majority of the blokes at the party would be in smart casual but I just wanted to make an impression on the ladeez.

Recommendations good people of PH, cheers and also ideas on shirt/t-shirt, tie or no tie, type of shoes.

Trying to restrict myself to a budget of £300 ono.

Sounds posh, are they in Saville Row and are they having a Crunch sale?

Harvie & Hudson on Jermyn St. 250-odd and they are the best suits I've ever had. I have 4.

I've got 3 and they are very well made.

They also have a sale on! I have a 'Bank', 'Barbican' and another one I can't remember.

They are super quality and excellent fit. Recommend them highly.

I've just had a look at their site and it appears they only do shirts. I might head up to that district anyway to see what's on offer, cheers.

Looks good and some bargains but bit worried that mail order won't be in time and the size might not be right. See they have a stockist in Ealing but don't fancy schlepping over there.

Cheers for the heads up tho'.

IF you're slim build, then a Paul Smith suit looks amazing.

Started to lose the slim build in my early 40s, although I'm still slim in my mind.

It's just a shock when I see a mirror tho'. hehe

You must have bought your mirror from the same place as me - it seems to distort me around the middle these days hehe

Just had a peek at the Paul Smith site but bit beyond my budgetyikes They have flip flops at £90.

Have decided to go for my old Italian Suit Jacket with a new black T-shirt and new jeans with smart shoes. Cost £45.

You can buy shirts online, but Suits and Jackets only in the shop. There are two shops BTW, both on J.St.
