Noticed some people basically labelling everyone under 20 a chav. So what is a chav?

Tracksuits? Buckfast? Cannabis? Assaults? ASBO? Jail Time? Spending time on street corners?

I've also noticed that I myself can't tell the difference between a child playing with a football and a granny-torturing knife-wielding crack-smoking 10 year old.
It also depends how many of them there are. And how much they look like they want to give you a good stabbing.

But chavs in reality should be people that do any of the things you listed.

If they know what Buckfast is they are NEDs, not CHAVs.

yes according to some 'ladies' at the local College, not good for Cheltenhamshire frown

Also heard of Council House And Violent which, apart from the behavioural tag at the end, risked confusing the salt of the earth with the scum of the earth.

Derived from the Romany Gypsy word of 'Chavvy'.

Which is a term for 'mate, friend'.

Then bdised by the media to describe 65% of the UK Population who's sole goal is job seekers allowance, free housing, crack and knife crime.

Walking (well, slouching and staggering like something out of "Shaun Of The Dead") down the street, with your headgear on backwards, your trousers round your knees showing off your underwear, your laces undone, talking like some black person from Harlem (when you're actually white and from Hemel Hempstead) and listening to "music" through the tinny speakers on your mobile phone.

If we're going for the broadest defintion possible - anyone whose day to day manner negatively impacts on anyone else, and who is either oblivious to this or doesn't care. Bonus points if they're proud of the fact.
