Friend has just been told by letting agency that she has to take occupiers insurance to protect the landlords property even though it is unfurnished. Sounds like BS to me. I've never asked for it when letting out, even fully furnished property. Any views?

Let me guess they even have a contact that can arrange it for her ?

Smells of BS to me,surly thats why she has to pay a deposit to cover damage/non payment etc.
