Strange ebay email

Just got an email from a person I outbid on ebay,they are asking me if I'd sell the item to them.Why would I want to do that and why didn't they increase their max bid.Strange

I've had this before.

Nothing odd in it IMHO. Maybe they were out and missed the bid. Clearly they really want it so are offering a deal - they have nothing to lose by asking.

What was it by the way?
