I reckon this problem affects most cat owners, spread a newspaper out on a suitable surface for reading, table, bed, even the floor, and next thing there's a cat sprawled across it.

It's more than just attention seeking, I've sen them doing it even when there isn't anyone trying to read it.

I don't read newspapers at the moment, so my cat is having to make do with a couple of sheets of A4 that I left on the bed, by mistake, and which I need to look at but haven't the heart to disturb him. I might tempt him off with some scoff later.

Mine pretends to be walking across my lap to the other side and stops, in front of laptop, I think I have perfected the keys now so I can still use it without chucking her off.

Today we went to the garden centre and came back with boxes full of pots and shrubs etc. It wasn't even 5 minutes before there were 4 cats in them biggrin

Years ago I was doing a jigsaw puzzle, and I was concerned that the two cats I had at the time would interfere with it, so I left the two halves of the puzzle box on top of the pieces.

Came back half an hour later to find a cat in each box.

Mrs SC had a cat that was perfectly happy to lie across a pile of wire coat hangers.

You want to teach him how to close it again....

I love it when a new parcel/item arrives. Cat enters room and spots parcel. Parcel is inspected from all angles, then scent marked. Cat now owns parcel.

It's also good when you move the furniture around a bit, they walk into the room, know something is wrong and then sit there trying to work it out. We moved our couch about 3" out the other week, now the cat sits on the windowsill then casually saunters onto the couch as a rule.. Until the day after we moved it out 3". Then cat casually saunters from the windowsill, down the gap which we had now created........... I shouldn't have laughed... But no more than 5 mins before she'd used the same couch to get onto the windowsill and had to do an extra jump...

Mine will climb inside a plastic bag then run across the floor in it.

With something like a newspaper she will try and get under it, if the paper isn't large or heavy enough she usually ends up running about with it balanced on her head.

Mine will not go through the catflap if I am in the kitchen, any other time no trouble but she has trained me to open the back door when she knocks the cat flap with her paw, this is for going out and coming in, If I dont do it fast enough she moans at me relentlessly until I sort it out.

The cat also sleeps ON the phone in my office (work at home) and does not stir when it rings making it impossible to answer it, I solved this by buying a second phone and now i use that one when the cat is in residence on the other one.

ANY paper is a bed. and the chair i was sat in before I got up to make tea/toilet/food is hers when I come back.

I cannot lie in bed late on saturdays because she wants to go out and I must operate the door at the same time every day or else i get moaned at.

If its Raining she will skulk about and try to avoid going out to to the toilet by peeing in the shower if I have been daft enough to leave the door open.

I once woke to find a massive slug on my pillow and a pleased cat on the end of my bed.

I have had her 17 years this easter, she is very clever and still in good shape despite her age, mind you she has been loved and looked after.

One of my cats loves sitting and sleeping on paper...or anything that makes crinkly noises really.

One of my other cats is a rather exciteable Devon Rex that gets particularly wide eyed when something makes crinkly noises so I'm sure you can all imagine how it ends.

The other cat doesnt want any of that nonsense so he sits in the corner growling at himself while the other 2 have a mad hour.

My cat sits on anything flat we put on the floor. Post it note, he'll sit on it!
